![70. The Beastie Boys[active 1985-present]*
I was a late comer (heh heh) to the music of the Beastie Boys. Though “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!)” came out when I was six and I remember it very clearly, I didn’t actually appreciate them very much until late in high school, when I was won over once and for all by the Fatboy Slim Remix of “Body Movin’”. (Oh, 1998!)
As an only child who was mostly friends with girls growing up, I’ve always been fascinated by and envious of the homosocial behaviors of bratty straight men. And over the last quarter-century, as they’ve matured from horndog teenagers to socially aware fortysomethings, I have to say they’ve only gotten hotter and hotter.
